New: see what your trip costs in fuel, day by day. How it works
About this guide

1About this guide

This guide shows you how to use Motocamp, one job at a time. Read it from the start, or jump to the part you need.

1.1Who this guide is for

This guide is for anyone who plans a trip with Motocamp. You might use a phone, a tablet or a computer. You don't need to know about maps or apps to follow it.

This book is for Motocamp AUS, at motocampaustralia.com. It gives distances in kilometres and metres, like the app does.

NoteThe pictures in this guide come from the US app. Your screens look the same, but the places and a few words differ.

1.2How the guide is set out

Each chapter covers one job. It starts with what a feature does and why you'd use it. Then come numbered steps. Tables list every switch and setting.

Steps name each button by the words on it. On a phone, most steps start with Menu at the top left. On a computer, the menu sits open down the left side. So there's no Menu button to tap.

1.3The three signs used in this guide

Some text sits in a coloured box. The box tells you how much it matters.

SignWhat it means
WarningSomething that could hurt you or someone else.
CautionSomething that could cost you. It might be a fine, a wrong turn, a flat battery or lost maps.
NoteSomething good to know. It helps you get more from the app.
WarningThis is a Warning box. Always read these before you drive.
CautionThis is a Caution box. It helps you avoid a cost or a wasted trip.
NoteThis is a Note box. It adds a handy fact or a short cut.

1.4Short picture guides

Each main feature also has a short guide, with a picture for each step. You'll find them all at motocampaustralia.com/guide/. They're handy on a phone, when you just want the steps.

Where a guide helps, this guide links to it, like this.

Step by step, with pictures: Find a place to stop for the night · Plan your own route, stop by stop · Tell it your trip, get a route · Turn your route into a day-by-day plan · Choose the kind of road you want · Gentler roads when you're towing · Keep your rig clear of low bridges · Keep the map with no signal · Plan and drive with 3D maps · See the weather on your trip · See bushfires on your map · Closed roads, checked for your trip day · A quiet heads-up when you're over the limit · Find great food stops on your way · Find campsites that take your dog · Book your bed straight with the owner · Put a missing place on the map · See fuel prices before you fill up

NoteThe app has its own quick guide too. Tap Menu, then User Guide at the top of the menu.

1.5Getting help from a person

Something on the map looks wrong? Tap Report a problem at the bottom of the menu. It goes straight to the team.
