15Your account and subscription

Signing in, your free trial, your plan, and what we keep for you.

15.1The Account panel

Everything about your account sits in one place.

  1. Tap Menu at the top left of the map.
  2. Scroll to the very bottom.
  3. Tap Account. It's under the line that says Signed in.

The panel has these parts, from top to bottom.

PartWhat it does
Signed in asThe email you sign in with. Older accounts show a username. If you joined with a username, tap Add an email so we can reach you.
SubscriptionManage or cancel subscription opens your billing page. On a monthly plan you also see Switch to yearly. The note says you can cancel any time, right here.
My usual rigThe vehicle you mostly travel in, whether you usually tow, and its height. Routes, warnings and camps follow it.
Change passwordType a new password of at least 8 letters, then tap Change password.
Recovery codeFor accounts that joined with a username. Tap Generate recovery code and write the code down. It is shown once.
Sign in with GoogleTap Connect Google. Then Continue with Google on the sign-in card opens this same account.

Danger zonePermanently delete my account.

Tap the cross at the top of the panel to close it.

15.2Your 14-day free trial

Motocamp is free for 14 days. You add a card at the start. Nothing is charged for 14 days.

  1. Go to motocampaustralia.com.
  2. On the sign-in card, tap No account? Start a 14-day free trial, card up front.
  3. Type your email address and choose a password of at least 8 letters.
  4. Tap Start free trial.
  5. Pick a plan and add your card on the next screen.

The card screen is run by Stripe, the card payment company. It shows the date of your first payment. Nothing is charged that day.

We email you a week before your first payment. So you don't need to cancel early to be safe. In the last 3 days, the app also shows when your trial ends.

When the card is in, you'll see You're in. Thank you. Tap Let's go to start.

NoteThe free trial is for new accounts. It is given once.

Under the Menu, the line above Account says Signed in. Once your card is in, it also says Subscriber. That is true during the trial too.

15.3Monthly or yearly

There are two plans: monthly and yearly. Yearly costs less for each month. You pick one when you add your card.

The prices show on the plan buttons, and on the welcome page at motocampaustralia.com/welcome. The billing page shows your own next payment.

On a monthly plan, you can change to yearly at any time.

  1. Open Menu, then Account.
  2. Under Subscription, tap Switch to yearly. It says how much you save.
  3. Read what it says. Then tap Switch to yearly again, or Not now.
  • During your trial: the plan changes now and nothing is charged today. Your first payment is the yearly price, on the day your trial ends.
  • After your trial: you pay today. It is the yearly price, less the part of this month you haven't used.
  • If the card is declined, nothing changes. You stay on monthly.
NoteYou can't switch from yearly back to monthly.

15.4Change your card or cancel

  1. Open Menu, then Account.
  2. Under Subscription, tap Manage or cancel subscription.
  3. A question asks what's behind it. Answering is up to you.
  4. Tap Continue.
  5. Your billing page opens. Change your card, get receipts, or cancel there.

If you pick I am not using it, the app offers to hold your billing instead. Payments then wait until the start of the next season, on 1 October. You keep your account and everything you saved.

If you pick Too expensive, the app may offer another month on us, once. On a monthly plan it also offers yearly. Tap Continue to cancel to go on.

Cancelling stops the next payment. You can still use the app until your paid time or your trial runs out.

NoteYour bank statement shows the payment as MOTOCAMP.

15.5When a trial or subscription ends

There is no free version. When your time runs out, a screen covers the map. It asks you to pick a plan. The only other button is Sign out.

Nothing is deleted. Your saved routes, Saved Spots and downloaded maps all stay. They open again when you subscribe.

If a payment doesn't go through, you keep using the app for 7 days while the card is tried again.

To come back, sign in and pick a plan on that screen.

15.6Other phones, and signing out

You can use your account on your phone, your tablet and your computer. Sign in on each one with the same email and password.

You stay signed in until you sign out. With no signal, the app still opens on a phone that is signed in.

15.8Buttons in our emails

Some of our emails have a button that opens the app and signs you in, with no password.

  • The button in your welcome email works for 7 days. It stops once you have signed in some other way.
  • Reminder emails sign you in only if your account has no password yet. That button works for one hour.

After that, the button opens the sign-in card. Sign in as usual.
